The 400 Series consists of Fretz’s Precisionsmith hammers which are designed for small-scale, intricate metalwork like subtle texturing or filigree while working with lighter-gauge metals. Bill Fretz has said he drew from his experiences working with American silversmith Fred Miller at the Cleveland Institute of Art and his time learning from Hans Christiansen at RIT’s School for American Craftsmen when creating this line. While all Fretz hammers are renowned for their quality, beauty, and comfort, these are remarkable due to their delicateness, yet hardiness. These heads, like all Fretz hammer heads are made from 420 stainless steel and hardened 50 HRC. The handles are made from oiled hardwood shaped and weighted to balance the heads perfectly. Made in Vietnam.
